  • Presented at B2 stage

We’ll Live and Die in These Towns is a gritty and compelling new musical drama driven by the adrenaline-rush energy and working class poetry of songs from The Enemy’s number one debut album.

A young rock musician, Argy, sits on the cusp of the big time only to suffer a crisis of confidence hours before the biggest performance of his life in a huge homecoming concert.

His manager, unable to convince him to sing, sends him away to re-visit his past and decide his future. So Argy walks the streets of his hometown, visiting family and friends in a bid to make sense of his feelings and find a way forward.

Argy’s worked his whole life for this break. But now it’s here, can he face down his fears and seize the moment?

We’ll Live and Die in These Towns comes from the pen of acclaimed Coventry writer, Geoff Thompson and is directed by Hamish Glen. It’s designed by Patrick Connellan and The Enemy’s Tom Clarke is the show’s Musical Director.

Age recommendation: 14+ Contains strong language.

Alternative Sounds 2 Now Available

Pre-Order Alternative Sounds 2

Having launched this series in September 2017 with the limited edition 7” vinyl “Alternative Sounds EP” followed by the 21 track album “Alternative Sounds, Volume One” in December 2017, the team are proud to announce the 25th May 2018 release of the second full album, “Alternative Sounds: Volume Two”

A 21 track album (full tracklisting below) named for the “Alternative Sounds” fanzine which ran for 18 editions 1979-81 (edited by the producer of this compilation, Martin Bowes), the record will raise funds for a variety of local Coventry & Warwickshire organisations promoting local music and helping local musicians.

The 21 tracks, all donated for use on the album by generous Coventry & Warwickshire musicians, will be followed by more in an ongoing series on further volumes, so many great pieces have already been given and continue to arrive.

No other compilation series of this nature, covering such a span of time and artists from a local area has ever been released before.

Each album contains gems which few listeners will have previously heard. Some are rare or lesser known tracks by established artists from Coventry & Warwickshire. Others are by talented local emerging artists. Yet others tell important parts of the local music story, being by artists who were expected to make it big but didn’t quite & by cult & influential bands.

An important aspect of “Volume Two” is its dedication to the late Rod Felton & Johnny “Wild Boy” Thomson who appear on three of the tracks between them.

To buy,

https://alternativesounds.bandcamp.com/album/alternative-sounds-volume-2

with a free download of the Wild Boys track available from 7th April at:

https://alternativesounds.bandcamp.com/track/were-only-monsters

and after 25th May hard copies will be available also from a range of outlets including Coventry Music Museum, Vinly Destination at Coventry Market, “Leamington Record Store” in Leamington, & “Seismic Sounds” in Leamington.

Many thanks to Phil Rooney of the Empire for sponsoring “Volume Two”, Johnny Satsangi who has again designed a marvellous cover which features the Empire and to Dean Eastment for the booklet design & all other design work.

The album contains a 16 page booklet detailing & describing each artist & their track

80’s Live At The Ricoh Cancelled

An 80’s Live event featuring the likes of Billy Ocean and Alexander O’Neill at the Ricoh Arena in June has had to be cancelled.

The Ricoh Arena has not said why the event was cancelled. However, rumours abound about poor ticket sales, forcing the gig  to be cancelled.

A spokesperson at the Ricoh Arena is being quoted as saying: “The promoter of the 80s LIVE show due to be staged at the Ericsson Indoor Arena in June, has made the difficult decision to reschedule the show to a new venue and on a new date.

“This decision is due to circumstances beyond our control and we would like to offer our sincere apologies.

“We have emailed all purchasers advising them of their options.

“Any queries relating to this should be directed to One Music Management on 0121 745 7733.”

A goal from Aaron Anderson for Smithswood Firs earned the promoted side all 3 points in a 1-0 at Feckenham.

Other fixtures
Walsall Senior Cup Final
Walsall Wood and Rushall Olympic fought out an exciting Walsall Senior Cup Final at Banks’ Stadium. The Pics took the lead in the 23rd minute with a deft finish from Richard Brodie. Wood were reduced to 10 men in the 38th minute when Keenan Meakin-Richards was shown a straight red for an off the ball incident with Brodie. With a three division difference, you would expect Rushall to take the game away from the MFL, but the second half was dominated by Walsall Wood. Paul Sullivan equalised in the 57th minute with a screamer which went in off the underside of the bar. Andre Landell restores Rushall’s lead 10 minutes later and it looked as though they had done enough to clinch victory. In the 4th minute of stoppage time. Lei Brown pounced to send the game to penalties. Rushall took an early lead in the shoot out when Sullivan’s shot was saved but it went to the 5th kick with it all square. Chris Salter’s spot kick hit the bar and it was left to Danny Waldron to score to give Rushall the Cup.

Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup Final
Coventry Copsewood raced into a 3-0 lead at the Ricoh Stadium against Nuneaton Griff but two goals from Jack Colley gave Griff hope. Ashley Piper calmed the nerves for Copsewood adding their 4th as they lifted the trophy with a 4-2 win.

Evesham Hospital Junior Cup Semi Final
Alcester Town are through to the final against Redditch Borough following a 2-1 win over Feckenham. Feckenham took an early lead from the penalty spot but it was the home side that ultimately saw it home and take a significant scalp.

Les James Challenge Cup Final
NKF Burbage came from behind to lift the trophy with a 3-1 win against Fairfield Villa. Fairfield opened the scoring in the 35th minute when centre-back James Finn hooked home from a corner. Burbage were level inside four minutes, Jake Brown reacting quickest, sliding home a rebound after a shot had cannoned off the post. Two goals in 5 minutes from Liam Storer settled the game for Burbage. The firs tin the 60th minute, slotting home unmarked a t the far post. His second in the 65th minute after Ryan Cheshire had run through the Villa defence, and the ball squirmed to Storer who tapped home.

Presidents Cup
NKF Burbage lifted their fourth trophy of a remarkable season with a hard earned 2-0 victory over Feckenham. Ryan Cheshire gave them the lead early in the first half. Both sides had chances before Matt Burt sealed the win 15 minutes from time.

JW Hunt Cup
Walsall Wood bowed out at the semi-final stage beaten 3-1 by Wolverhampton Sporting. Chadd Degville-Cross scored twice for the WMRL champions who meet Atherstone Town in the final.

Atherstone Town lifted the trophy on Tuesday night as a Liam Kirton goal gave them victory over Wolverhampton Sporting Community

Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup
Bilston Town and Barnt Green Spartak met in the final at Ribblesford Meadows, the home of Bewdley Town FC. It was the Steelmen from the West Midlands Regional League who came out on top, winning a pulsating final 3-2.

THE DAMNED ACHIEVE THEIR FIRST TOP TEN ALBUM!

UK TOUR ANNOUNCED FOR NOVEMBER INCLUDING LONDON O2 SHEPHERD’S BUSH EMPIRE ON THE 23RD

NEW ALBUM ‘EVIL SPIRITS’ – OUT NOW ON SEARCH AND DESTROY/SPINEFARM RECORDS

“Dave Vanian sounds as though he relishes every word he sings and Captain Sensible plays out of his skin.” 5/5 The Express

“The Damned have become, if possible, more eccentric and outrageous as they grow older.” The Independent
“The results are terrific.” 4/5 Mojo

“Stands up with the very best of the band’s back catalogue.” Classic Rock

This week The Damned are currently occupying the number seven position in the Official UK Album Charts with their new album ‘Evil Spirits’, released Friday 13th April via Search and Destroy/Spinefarm Records. It’s a big achievement for the punk rock born British legends, who, despite huge success in the seventies and eighties, never quite made the top ten, narrowly missing the chance in 1985 when ‘Phantasmagoria’ peaked at number 11.

The huge swell of support from their fans, critics and aficionados however, has propelled the Tony Visconti produced ‘Evil Spirits’ to the top and has shown the world just how relevant, forty-one years after their inception, The Damned still are. Never ones to play safe, the band always retained the energy of punk but were never content to stay within those narrow confines and ‘Evil Spirits’ continues in that progressive journey.

The Damned started 2018 with a sprawling UK tour in January and February with former member Paul Gray back on bass, and they will end the year with another run of UK shows in November where the band will get the chance to set free their Evil Spirits at the following dates, including a performance at the prestigious London 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on November 23rd.

‘Evil Spirits’ is available on digital download via Spotify and i-Tunes, on CD and 180g vinyl available to order now from

Alternative Sounds Volume Two Available To Pre-Order

Pre-orders of the album are now being taken at

with a free download of the Wild Boys track available from 7th April at:
