Late Goal Knocks Sphinx Out Of Birmingham Senior Cup

Coventry Sphinx were unluckily beaten 2-1 at home in the Birmingham Senior Cup Second Round by Sutton Coldfield Town.

Sphinx took the lead in the 14th minute when Ryan Harkin ran through and unselfishly played the ball across for TOM KING to score.

In a pretty even half, Sutton Coldfield, who are two divisions above Sphinx, drew level just before half-time when former Hereford player AARON BIRCH got in on the right and beat Scott Dutton with a powerful drive.

Both sides had chances, but in the 88th minute, Sutton Coldfield, who included former Coventry City youngster Lee Hildreth in their side, snatched the winner when substitute DANNY O’CALLAGHAN sneaked in at the far post to score and knock Sphinx out of the competition.
