Dutton Departs Sphinx

Stuart Dutton and his assistant Scott Furlong have left Coventry Sphinx FC.

Coventry Sphinx Football Club have issued this morning a statement  announcing that their 1st Team Manager Stuart Dutton and his Assistant Scott Furlong have both left the club with immediate effect and that all parties agreed it is the right thing to do for the benefit of the football club.

Club Chairman, Dannie Cahill said in the statement: “Both Stuart and Scott have worked tirelessly in the last couple of seasons for which we are all truly grateful but with recent poor results we all decided that it was time for a change. Great credit must go to them both for putting the club first and we wish them both every success in whatever they decide to do in the future”.

The club have moved quickly to secure the services of their new Manager Lee Knibbs who returns to the club having already served time as the Assistant to Danny McSheffrey back in 2012.

Lee, son of Sphinx legend Willie Knibbs, will take up all 1st team matters immediately and is now focused on this coming Saturday’s home game against South Normanton Athletic FC.

CNS Sport’s Kev Monks, who has been involved with the club for the last 26 years in one way or another, said: “This was not a surprise and although it is sad that Dutts and Scott are moving on, at the end of the day, it is the right thing for all concerned.

“I’d like to thank Dutts and Scott for all they have done for Coventry Sphinx FC and wish them all the best.

“Lee Knibbs did an excellent job when he was last here and I am sure that he will do the same again with the full backing of the Sphinx support.”
