Coventry Blaze’s Jordan Pietrus has praised the Blaze fans after the side took a four point weekend.
Pietrus told Blaze Media Manager Rob Plaister: “It was a big weekend for us, we’ve gone through a pretty trying stretch here recently so it was good to get out and get a couple wins. Now we need to continue to build on the momentum we created this past weekend.
“I think we really tried to bring our focus on what we need to do to be successful. Near the end of the week the players had a closed door meeting. What flipped the switch? I’m not sure exactly but as I said before we have to continue to make strides this weekend and build on our momentum.
“It’s another big weekend for us. But every weekend is a big one in the Elite League. Friday is going to be a great test for us in a must win game in Nottingham, and then on Sunday, we take on a Braehead team who will be hungry for a win as well.
“I just think it’s important to recognize how important our fans are to us and our success. They stick by us through thick and thin, and it was nice to get the opportunity to let them know right from one of the players that our fans are the best in the league and we need them behind us! The fans 100% make the Skydome a difficult place to play for opposing teams and I love that!
“We turn to Block 8 and give them the famous ‘Hirschy’ wave when we win a game because they have been huge in combatting opposing team fans when they come to the Dome. They’re amazing, the guys love the chants and the drums, so it just adds to the atmosphere and the fun around the rink.
“We are committed to working hard to improve as a team each day and turning that work into wins and results on the weekends.”
